GENERAL SUMMARY
The USLA Director of Champions Development (DCD) is a part-time position which leads and manages five neighborhood and school based clubs as part of a comprehensive grass-roots league. The five Urban Champions Development League Clubs include: Jefferson United, Edison Power, Lanier Liga Del Barrio, AC Burbank and Eastpoint South. In 2016, over 40 teams will serve 400-500 boys and girl’s ages 4-10. The position requires a dynamic and dedicated bi-lingual leader with knowledge in designing, implementing and assessing player soccer skill development while also developing character, academic excellence and servant leadership to youth living in an urban environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Further develop and implement a comprehensive player curriculum and trainer instruction development program, in collaboration with the Director of Champions Academy & Premier;
- Develop and implement a player evaluation process with head trainers, with an end of season feed-back session with players and parents;
- Retain, recruit and lead qualified head trainers;
- Placement of head trainers with appropriate age and geographic team;
- Develop and implement a head trainer evaluation process and monthly feedback;
- Identify and select development head trainers for the Champions Trainers Leadership Institute for future opportunity with Champions Academy and Premier;
- Assist and identify and recruit players from the development teams and beyond for Champions Academy and Premier team observations and tryouts;
- Design , implement and lead “player development group training” master schedule, times, locations, policies, in collaboration with Directors of Operations and Administration;
- Identify and assign a group training leader, from the group of head trainers for each group training session;
- Design, implement and lead USLA Champions “culture” and “curb appeal” brand at training sessions;
- Design, implement and lead development team game day schedule, times, locations, policies, in collaboration with Directors of Operations and Administration;
- Design, implement and lead USLA Champions “culture” and “curb appeal” brand at games;
- Schedule, organize, lead and teach modular educational training sessions for development trainers;
- Work with the Board of Directors, Director of Administration, Director of Operations, Director of Champions Academy & Premier to formulate and implement a strategic plan for USLA;
- Attend group training sessions and games for development teams to provide assistance, feedback and advice;
- Coordinate and run skills development clinics throughout the program season;
- Attend and participate at leadership planning and goals sessions, monthly board meetings, registration events, season orientation, Champions night, Spring Festival and Parent Leadership Council monthly meeting;
- During registration drives, network with elementary schools, youth organizations and church leaders within the USLA target neighborhoods to promote USLA;
- Collaborate and assist Director of Operations and Board on registration events;
- Oversee development team players on registration forms compliance;
- Oversee development team head trainers on forms, certifications and background check compliance;
- Oversee and implement Champions Code of Conduct and Player Safety Plan at all USLA events;
- Oversee development team head trainers on performance monthly stipend and communicate compliance before end of month to Board treasurer;
- Collaborate with Director of Administration on player compliance and eligibility on fundraising commitments;
- Design, implement and oversee USLA Champions Player Safety Plan at training sessions and games;
- Collaborate and assist the Director of Operations on equipment budget requests and set- up for all training sessions and game days;
- Collaborate with Director of Operations on uniform kit inventory and distribution for all development players;
- Collaborate with Director of Operations on Referee Schedule for all game days and tournaments;
- Assist and coordinate with Director of Operations on game day volunteers for set-up and take-down/clean up;
- Identify and collaborate with a Champions Advisor for the design and implementation of the 5-Star Champions program and team Community Service Projects;
- Oversee, implement and track a high standard of academic excellence with a “No-Pass No-Play” program;
- Maintain a development “ineligible” player list throughout the season for registration, fundraising, academics and Champions compliance; and
- Design, organize, implement and collaborate on the end of season “Dome Cup” Tournament and Awards Ceremony.
QUALIFICATIONS
- USSF National A or B license or NSCAA Premier or equivalent is required. NSCAA DOC Diploma is desirable.
- Professional or college level playing experience is preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree is strongly preferred.
- At least 5 years’ experience coaching youth soccer is required. Previous experience in a DOC or assistant DOC role is strongly preferred.
- Coaching education experience at the national, state or local level is desirable
- Bi-lingual preferred.
